In 2022, at its Year in Infrastructure (YII) event, Bentley Systems introduced a series of new products that leverage digital twins and cloud data to enable quicker, more precise design and project delivery.
For example, Bentley's advanced additive manufacturing (AM) system can convert 3D CAD models into physical components. The technology has been utilized to create everything from supported tools for Bentley's manufacturing employees to historical accurate tooling for the reconstruction of its famous wood shop, and the lightweight sanding blocks needed to create Bentley models that are driven in record-breaking times at the Pikes Peak Challenge in America.
The ProjectWise platform was enhanced by adding a variety of new features which include the ability to reuse digital components, an increased capability for civil design reviews and the capability to conduct a Drive Simulation to test the ability to drive a specific design; and the addition of multiple formats for project files to an integrated workspace to facilitate collaborative review of designs. Bentley also unveiled the new Bentley Infrastructure Cloud, a collection of integrated solutions that span the entire infrastructure project lifecycles.
The new solutions include an iTwin Bridge Monitoring solution that utilizes drone video and iTwin Capture to provide real-time bridge inspections as well being able to monitor and track performance using IoT sensors that are layered onto a digital twin; and a Dam Monitoring solution that provides an unidirectional access to sensor information. Bentley has also integrated its iTwin Platform with the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator to help users meet the sustainability standards.
